Nap Time

Today I put McKenna down for her nap, and I have to say that I am very lucky because she never makes any kind of a fuss when we put her down, but today after twenty mintues of listening to her talk to herself I opened her door to see this looking at me! What a cutie, a stubborn cutie, but still a cutie!

Tired Baby

McKenna has been all over the place now that she is crawling...she immediately crawls to the couches and walks along the room holding onto things! The other day she climbed up in Jade's lap after making a mess of my living room, layed her head back on Jade, and fell asleep. All the playing must have just tuckered her out!

Harvest Hoorah

Spanish Fork puts on a big harvest celebration that is pretty big for a small town. They have a ton of free activities and entertainment. McKenna is too small for most of the activities, like the pony rides, but we helped her do a few of the things there. She helped me make a crown of leaves, and when I say helped, I mean she tried the rip the paper leaves. She was not that happy about wearing it though. We also made a bracelet for her - all of the foam pieces we used had been in McKenna's mouth at one point, I figured I had better use them so another kid didn't get a slobbery leaf! The bracelet didn't last very long - she kept putting it in her mouth or yanking it off so we just kept it for her.

There were the cutest cut outs of scarecrows and sunflowers, McKenna cooperated after about twenty pictures.

They had carmel apples, kid style. They took chunks out of the apple and put a little stick in them, then put carmel on a plate to dip them in. McKenna downed her apples without the carmel and then decided to lick the carmel off my fingers.

REALLY!?!

Yesterday one of my students decided to clean out his ears with his pencil eraser. "I wanted to get the ear wax out to make a candle," were the exact words I heard in his explanation. While the eraser was clear up his ear canal a big chunk broke off and lodged itself in his ear. His mom had to come get him to take him to the hospital...last I heard, they were debating between putting him out to get it or surgery because it was so close to his ear drum. You would think that a fifth grader would know better, but apparently not. Welcome to the crazy world that I call my life!

Finally Crawling!!

So, at eight and a half months, McKenna decided to crawl! We know we are doomed now, but we are super excited. We also know that it will only be a few weeks until she walks...she already thinks it is fun to stand on her own.

In other news, McKenna has found new foods to love. She loves corn on the cob and is so adorable when she eats it. She is getting to be such a big girl - she giggles at herself, constantly talks, and can play on her own for long periods of time. It is so fun to watch her grow up and gain this little personality, but also sad because it means she isn't going to be my baby that loves to cuddle much longer. She now has four teeth! The two bottom middle ones and the top incisors - she will be asking for her two front teeth for Christmas this year! She is finally growing hair in the front, no more receeding hair line! She will be nine months old at the end of September and I cannot believe it.

We have been incredibly busy the past month with school and keeping up with our wiggle worm. Yesterday was Constitution Day, in case you didn't know, and I set up an Ellis Island day at our school. Reporters came and we ended up being the front cover story of the Daily Herald. The reporter followed my class around...this is a picture of one of my students, if you squint real hard you can see me in the back of the picture. I will try to be better about posting more timely...one day things will slow down at school and I will be able to take a breather! We hope everyone is doing well!

Today it rained like crazy for a while...complete with hail, lightening, and thunder. The gutters in our neighborhood couldn't handle all that water at one time so our streets were flooded with huge puddles. The kids in the neighborhood were thrilled! They were riding bikes through it and secretly hoping to fall over so they could swim in it. We decked McKenna out in her rain boots and let her have a try at walking in the puddle. We were more excited about the pictures than she was about the water!
