A friend sent me this story...Hopefully my kids don't feel this way with a working mom, I wish I could stay home with them everyday. But it is a good reminder to be a great mom and spend time with them when I am with them.
A woman came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find her 5-year old son waiting for her at the door.
SON: 'Mummy, may I ask you a question?'
MUM: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the woman.
SON: 'Mummy, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the woman said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'If you must know, I make $20 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: "Mummy, may I please borrow $5?"
The mother was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door..
The woman sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed down , and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $5 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The woman went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.
'Are you asleep, son?' She asked.
'No Mummy, I'm awake,' replied the boy
'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the woman. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $5 you asked for.'
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you Mummy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The woman saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his mother.
'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the mother grumbled.
'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.
'Mummy, I have $20 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'
The mother was crushed. She put her arms around her little son, and she begged for his forgiveness.
It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $20 worth of your time with someone you love

My Beautiful Princess
McKenna got to go to Disneyland again and this time she went to meet the princesses. She had so much fun with grandma, grandpa, and her two fantastic aunts! I wish I was independently wealthy so I could go travel with her every weekend and watch her experience all this fun stuff! She is so lucky to have so many people that are willing to take her fun places and put up with her diva attitude!
Her favorite ride this time was the Dumbo ride! They went on Wednesday and were able to go on all the rides in Fantasy Land in just a few hours - lucky ducks!

New Bike Stroller
If you are ever looking for a bike trailer/jogging stroller, I highly recommend the Schwinn brand. It is super easy to pull and has an actual front jogging wheel instead of the little wheel most convert to. My kids both fit so well, with all their activities and food to keep them occupied! River and McKenna have both fallen asleep on the other - too cute!Saturday, April 17, 2010
Thanks Boondocks!
Boondocks decided to have a teacher appreciation weekend, so we decided to take advantage and headed up to Draper. We had so much fun and the best thing was that it was free!!!! I have never been before and was very impressed, there is something for everyone. They even let McKenna be a passenger in the go-carts. She giggled the entire time and got to ride with both Jade and me. Such a fun couple of hours - thanks Boondocks!Wednesday, April 14, 2010
We Love Swings!
Both of my kids love the swings! McKenna wouldn't get near one last year and now all she wants to do is swing...she loves underdogs and likes to go high! River loves to sit in the swing next to McKenna and watch her. I love sunny weather!

Vashon Island
In all of Jade's trips to Washington, he had never been on a ferry. So we headed out to Vashon Island to go exploring. The kids loved looking at the water on the trip over to the island and it ended up being a nice day!

We went to see the "Tweed Bike" and were not disappointed in McKenna's reaction. She kept saying that she couldn't ride that bike and was amazed that it was that high in the tree. If you have never read the book The Red Ranger Came Calling, you need to ... it is one of my favorites!

Happy Easter
Happy Easter! I was lucky enough to spend Easter at my mom and dad's house - it has been ten years since I have been home for this holiday! We had a relaxing day watching conference and eating an amazing meal with my parents and grandparents! What a wonderful day to remind us to be grateful for all we have and everything our Savior did for us.

I was a crafty mom and helped McKenna make chicks and a bunny head for Easter decorations! She was so cute and wanted to do everything herself.

The Easter Bunny was so nice to the kids. We got the kids another matching outfit from Children's Place! So excited to see them in them.

They were happy to get new things. River was happy to play with the eggs and McKenna was into the candy - she had way too much!

Tacoma Children's Museum
While trying to decide what to do with my kids while my parents were at work, I found out that the Children's Museum in Tacoma was having a free day! So we packed up and went! It is a cute museum and the kids had a fantastic time.
McKenna enjoyed playing in the farm area! I wonder how many other kids have put the plastic fruit in their mouths? - GROSS!
River played with the blocks forever! He loved them - guess we'd better get em!
And here I am being a mean mom and telling McKenna to come talk to me - Jade decided it was a Kodak moment.
