Disneyland

We went to the happiest place on Earth this past weekend...that's right, we went to Disneyland! My dad was on a business trip so we met him in Orange County. My mom and Ashley also met us there! Disneyland is a whole new experience with a baby and we had a blast. McKenna loved every minute of it! She was able to go on a lot of rides and she actually liked them. The parades were her favorite and all the characters in the parades would stop and talk to her...she is a people magnet! I've decided that if we get flight benefits when Delta merges with Northwest airlines then we are definitely getting season passes - I could go to Disneyland every day! Here are a small fraction of the photos we took during the three days.

McKenna loved the characters, especially the scary villians - she kept trying to give the evil step mother from Snow White kisses. The only character she was really scared of was Mickey Mouse!

She loved the shows and even kept her 3-D glasses on for most of the shows. The Tiki Room was probably the one she liked the best - she couldn't stop dancing!

She liked all the rides a lot. She squeeled on the lady bug ride in Bug's Land - it is like the TeaCups! Weird Girl! Jade had never been to California Adventure so we had to go on the Grizzly River Run - I hate that ride, you get so wet! We were lucky on that ride, it was Splash Mountain that we got soaked! Jade rode on the Tower of Terror about 6 times in the three days we were there! We won the Disney Dream Fast Passes on Saturday and it put you to the front of the line on the best rides in both parks!

Here McKenna is anxiously awaiting the parade! She was so fun to take to Disneyland - it made the trip that much better.

Everyone at the park could see how excited she was! In the morning she would clap if anyone said Disneyland! This picture of her on the Princess Throne is one of my favorite of all time!

Toon Town

We rode the shuttle bus to and from the park each day - McKenna became quite the commuter. She was exhausted at the end of every day - she learned to take her naps in any postition and wherever she could. She was the perfect baby on the trip we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. I love being around my family and it was a nice break to go visit them in such a fun place - we just wish Kyle, Jenn, Staci, and Chris could have been with us!

Pumpkins

Our friends, Neeley and Ryan, have a wonderful garden on the side of their house that Ryan slaves over during the summer - it is gorgeous! So in the fall they have hundreds of pumpkins to choose from. McKenna was invited over to get a pumpkin of her very own today! She mainly wanted to play with their little boy but she did sit for a few pics!

The Wonderful World of Teaching

While walking a student to the office today, he asked me, "You know what you should be for Halloween?" I replied by asking him, "What?" His reply was, "You should go as yourself, you are scary enough." I have no idea if he was trying to be funny or was serious, but I said, "Well, that wasn't very nice." Then after I dropped him off to see the nurse I laughed the entire way back to class. When he returned to my class, he asked me again, "You know what you should be for Halloween?" I told him that he had already told me and he said, "No, I think you should be Little Red Riding Hood." He then handed me a picture he had drawn with my name on it and Little Red Riding Hood. Kids are so funny!

Later on I found a note on my desk with a shiny red rock next to it. A student had given me the rock with the message "Keep on Shining." One thing is for sure, teaching always changes! I guess you can't please them all on the same day...maybe I should just be me on Halloween, then I don't have to worry about dressing up!! I love my job! - I really do.

New Sleeping Position

We find McKenna with her butt up in the air at least every other night! I would think it hurts to do that but she seems to enjoy it!

While I Blog

McKenna can't seem to have me out of her sight, so while I post blogs and look at everyone else's sites, McKenna goes through all of our computer cords - real safe!

Embarrassing Moment

Okay, so you know the "Get to Know You Games" that you always play in ward activities, the ones that have you answer questions such as...what is your most embarrassing moment? I hate that question. I know I have done plenty of embarrassing things in my life (especially embarrassing to those around me), but I can never remember any of them. So this post is a reminder to me of an embarrassing moment.

Today we were practicing for the primary program on the stage. I am always the designated one to sit on the stage by the microphone to help the kids. I had just helped a Sunbeam say his part and was moving to get out of the way. I was on my knees and my dress got stuck under one knee while I moved the other knee. I guess corduroy was not made to give and the dress ripped right down the middle of my back side! Luckily this was a practice and only a hand full of people were behind me. I grabbed the hole and held it until the pianist gave me her jacket to tie around my waist. We finished the practice and then I went home to change.

I will have to plan my outfit more carefully for the sacrament program - we do not want it to include an accidental strip!!!
